Requirements to vote:
18 years old on or by Election Day.
US citizen.
Resident of Virginia. A person who has come to Virginia for temporary purposes and intends to return to another state is not considered a resident for voting purposes.
Not be registered and plan to vote in another state.
Not be convicted of a felony, and if convicted, have had your right to vote restored.
Not be currently declared mentally incompetent by a court of law.
How do I register?
In the state of Virginia, you can register to vote online, via mail, or in person.

The deadline to register online is 22 days before Election Day.
To register via mail, fill out this form: https://www.elections.virginia.gov/registration/voter-forms/index.html and mail to any voter registration office , which can be found at: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation/PublicContactLookup
Your form must be postmarked 22 days before Election Day.
To register in person, you can go to any of the following locations and fill out a registration.

The deadline to register in person is 22 days before Election Day.
You do not have to register in affiliation with a political party to vote in the primary election.
If you have moved to a new address, you must update your voter registration online at https://www.elections.virginia.gov/citizen-portal/index.html or at your local general registrar.
Can I pre-register?
You can pre-register if you are 17 years old and will be 18 years of age at the next general election.
You can also vote in the primaries, even if you’ll still be 17, as long as you’ll be 18 by the general election.
